The Hanwang 7+1 Model: A Catalyst for Sustainable Transformation

Noble Gateway Malaysia’s vision of establishing Malaysia’s first eco-village in Hulu Langat is inspired by the guiding philosophies of the Beijing International Exchange Association's Sustainable Development Committee since 2005. The Hanwang 7+1 Model, founded on the basis of building resilience among survivors of the Hanwang Earthquake in 2008 (deemed as China’s worst earthquake), is made even more relevant as Hulu Langat endures one of its worst floods in November 2022.

Board of Advisors

Establishing an eco-village is no small feat, and we are profoundly grateful for the generous wisdom and experience shared with our team by experts in their respective fields.

Our 4 Core Philosophies

Every aspect of our eco-village, from farming to governance, is guided by the following core philosophies, which are reflected in everything we do.

01

The Philosophy of ‘Regenerative Agriculture’

From death to life - through love & science.

The journey of Noble Gateway began with the transformation of a disused exotic animal breeding farm in Hulu Langat into a showcase for eco-friendly farming and biodiversity conservation. Where once the land had been depleted, we set out to restore the health of the soil and surrounding habitat through regenerative agriculture principles. By adopting practices like crop rotation, composting and conservation tillage, we were able to revitalize the degraded farmland. As the land healed, wildlife gradually returned to the area.

Compliance to International Goals

The United Nations

17 Sustainable Development Goals

Our mission aligns with 11 out of 17 of following goals, advocating for sustainable living and reducing Earth's resource usage.

03

Egocentrism vs. Ecocentrism

One Health Agroecology in Our SOPs & Beliefs

Biodiversity loss jeopardizes ecosystems, disrupts food chains, and undermines planetary health. Addressing this requires community-driven efforts to protect and restore biodiversity, fostering a harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. Pollution, deforestation, and climate change - are all by-products of urban life. A holistic approach to environmental stewardship is imperative to ensure the sustained health of ecosystems and the well-being of residents.

The Philosophy of ‘Dao’

Achieving Balance in Mind & Matter

We integrate ‘Dao道’ by embracing the natural flow of life in all our practices - living in harmony with the environment, adopting sustainable and regenerative methods that reflect the natural order. Our approach is rooted in simplicity and humility, recognising that true balance comes from aligning our actions with the rhythms of nature. Through practices like organic farming, conservation efforts, and community living, we embody the Dao道’s essence—fostering a space where humans, animals, and the land coexist in mutual respect and harmony, allowing the natural world to flourish as intended.
